International Women's Day (IWD) is a global day in celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action to create a diverse, equitable, and inclusive world. Groups come together worldwide to celebrate women's achievements, raise awareness against bias, and take action for women's equality!
The Two Maine Mermaids annual International Women’s Day Celebration & Ocean Dip (now, the Women's Wave!), is an event where we gather to celebrate the strength, power, and capacity of women by walking hand-in-hand into Maine’s cold ocean. This year, our goal is to have 1,000 dippers line all 2,100 feet of Willard Beach’s shoreline making a bold statement in support of women.
We welcome anyone who is comfortable centering the experiences of women.

Who is invited to the Women's Wave?Our 〰️WOMEN'S WAVE〰️ welcomes anyone who is comfortable centering the experiences of women! Experienced dippers & first timers are welcome! Come solo or come with a crew! You will be welcomed and invited to join hands to walk in solidarity into the coldwater TOGETHER! Registration is FREE!

Do I need a ticket for the Packet Pickup Party on Friday, March 7th?Nope, just drop in anytime between 4-8pm! You do need a ticket for the Yoga class at the Packet Pickup Party though! There is limited space, so you need to sign-up for the yoga class in advance!

Can I still order a Women's Wave shirt?T-shirt pre-orders ended on 2/18 so we could send our order to the printer. We will have a very limited amount of shirts for sale at the Packet Pickup Party. If you think you ordered the wrong size you can try to exchange it at the Packet Pickup Party, but no guarantees!

I can't make it to the Packet Pickup Party. Is there another way I could get my packet (and shirt if I ordered one)?We will not be shipping packets or shirts and we will not have them on the beach on Saturday. If you have a friend coming to the Packet Pickup Party they are welcome to pickup your items for you. Thanks for understanding our limited capacity!

That's a lot of people. Where is everyone going to park?We will be sending you all of the info & maps by 3/1 via email and posting ALL of the things in ALL of the places (like Instagram!). We encourage everyone to park on the Southern Maine Community College campus. It's a quick walk to the beach :)

What happens if the weather gets tricky?**UPDATE 3/5: HIGH WINDS EXPECTED SATURDAY! WE MAY USE OUR WEATHER DATE. Yikes! 25+mph winds are not great conditions for the Women's Wave. We will make the call about moving to our weather date by Friday at 10am. *weather date: Sunday, March 9th, same time, same place* We will be watching the forecast closely! Help us manifest ~42*F, no wind, no precipitation, and slightly overcast (for the photos and drone, obviously!!) If we need to move to our weather date (Sunday, March 9th) we will communicate via email and post on Instagram.
